    The Senior Cloud Engineer maintains and operates enterprise cloud applications in support of business operations to include virtualization operations, both on premise and in the public cloud.  




    • Designs and architects cloud solutions to provide recommendations to Senior Leadership about cloud strategy, migration paths, best practice, and technical direction in both current and future offerings.
    • Leads cross-functional teams including business and technical units in adoption of enterprise-wide cloud directives.
    • Acts as a technical evangelist for cloud operations in internal team meetings, cross-functional team meetings and for the company as a whole.
    • Monitor network and systems operations within the cloud and hybrid-cloud fabric; respond both reactively and proactively to alerts.
    • Support, troubleshoot, research, and resolve Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Virtual machine issues related to installations, migration, operating system and application installations, cloud network to include load balancers, firewalls and Network Virtual Appliances (NVAs).
    • Support, troubleshoot, research, and resolve Platform as a Service (PaaS) deployment and recovery options; coordinate as necessary with third party cloud providers and vendors to ensure Carrington IT systems meet business requirements.
    • Ability to deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on virtualization technology to include “serverless computing” and container technology.
    • Ability to translate business requirements in technical cloud architecture; then manage the implantation with the cloud provider.
    • Review cloud design for best practices in security, efficiency and design, provide/implement fixes where necessary.
    • Perform maintenance tasks and configuration with management tools, including software updates and patches for virtual machines, remote control tools, application inventory and management tasks.
    • Establish and maintain user accounts and passwords in accordance with the company's information security guidelines.
    • Take ownership and follow up on escalated issues.
    • Participate in on call rotation, and scheduled maintenance during non-business hours.




    •  Extensive knowledge of cross platform cloud technology to include:
      • Infrastructure, Platform, Desktop and Software as a Service
      • Public cloud (Amazon, Google, Microsoft), private cloud, and a focus on cloud hybrid.
    • Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions.
    • Ability to make decisions that have moderate impact on immediate work unit.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or equivalent related work experience.
    • Advanced technical training in systems/cloud infrastructure, vendor specific certification preferred, to include Amazon Web Certification (Professional level), Azure Solutions Architect, and/or Apache CloudStack Certification (ACCEL).
    • 5+ years of enterprise systems engineering experience.
    • Experience with cloud based architecture, virtualization, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
